Dear Friends of BEM,
As an organization that takes on the responsibility of sending individuals to Haiti for mission work, the health and safety of our team members is the highest priority. Due to BEM’s relationships on the ground, we are uniquely situated to assess the risk to our team members. BEM has connections from our years of service in both the government and on the streets. We have been traveling to Haiti with teams for 20 years, and have not had any type of security-related injury during that time.
Being wise is not just following the call to serve on a mission trip. Part of wisdom is assessing all available information and prayerfully making an informed, God-led decision.
Please be assured that we would never take a team to Haiti if we believed it was unsafe. We have canceled or moved trips before due to security reasons. While we take the recommendation of the State Department of the United States seriously, we also have confidence that our teams on the ground are aware of the current risk at any given time to bring a team to serve in Haiti.
Thank you for your support!
