With heaviness in our hearts we share the earthly loss of our dear Jean-Michel Charles, born November 1, 1999 died May 2, 2018 at the age of 18.
Jean-Michel came into our program when he was ten and was with us for a wonderful eight years. Throughout these over 3,000 days he showed 10,000 reasons to love and adore him. His smile lit up his eyes and it was readily available to all whom he came into contact with. His brothers and sisters in the RFA program all looked up to him and he cared and loved each and every one of them.
Jean-Michel’s foster parents, Pastor Moise and Madame Moise, loved him so. He was there to assist them in both the day to day and in the faith community they run. If there was a crying child they ran first to the parents and if they were busy with the other 15 children then to Jean-Michel who always was there to provide love and affection. If Pastor Moise needed someone to unlock the church or get formula for a child Jean-Michel was given the keys and hopped on the motorcycle and took off. If Madame Moise needed a child calmed she handed him to Jean-Michel.
Jean-Michel ‘s heart was large and he accepted each person that he met with joy. He was strong, smart, faithful and happy. His dream was to become a Doctor and to give back to his country in some way. He was supported for many years in his day to day activities in school, church and the community by his co-sponsors who dearly loved him and shared his aspirations.
We who knew him will remember his smile, his compassion, his calm strength and his joy in his RFA extended family. We send special thanks to Pastor and Madame Moise who cared for him so faithfully.
May his memory be a blessing to all.
His funeral service in Haiti will be at the Bethesda Evangelical Mission church in Les Cayes and will take place on May 12, 2018 at 9 am. Pastor Jean Lubin Beaucejor will attend representing BEM/RFA USA. Service will be led by Pastor Jean Phares Beaucejor. Burial will take place in Les Cayes. A memorial service will be held in CT at a date to be determined.
Thoughts and memories of Jean-Michel can be sent to ellen@rfahaiti.org for compilation into a memorial reading for his Haiti service.
