Day began early at 7 am with the smell of Haitian coffee out on the veranda and some amazingly interesting words from one of our team members during morning reflection/devotion. Confirming many team members thoughts as he talked about being a branch of a tree nourished by God – and the fruit is what we do for others. Activity in the schools went so well with each team of members handling the execution slightly differently – all ages loved it and everyone including the school teachers found it helpful to learn about each other. Some of the teachers planned on posting them in the schools.
On to the home, where we had a wonderful lesson by Susan Herrick on the formation of sand, coral, rocks using items that she and the children picked up yesterday in Port Salut. Making beads with Dee was a hit as the kids took to it on the spot and she is excited to be working with them over the next 7 weeks to help them create something that is theirs.
Fingerprinting with the younger children, friendship bracelets and viewing the coral under a magnifying glass were also big draws. Lunch all together enjoying our wonderful home in Chantal with some of the older boys playing soccer on our soccer field. And a hysterical tooth brushing lesson given by our own Dexter. All calm at night here on the island.
