Students at William J. Johnston Middle School in Colchester, Connecticut have recently been busy reading to raise money for a cause! Over 300 hours worth of reading was completed during one week in February from more than 80 students. The students chose to donate half of their fundraised money to a local food bank and the other half to Restavec Freedom Alliance. RFA was presented with a check for $1,107 which will go towards buying bicycles for the RFA children 10 years and older.
Thank you very much to all the students who participated in the Read-a-Thon and to Elise Graber, 7th language arts teacher and RFA Director of Social Outreach, for organizing the fundraiser. Also, thank you to the Norwhich Bulletin for their news article.
