We are seeing some great progress with the construction of our first permanent home in Chantal, Haiti! Our contractors are working at an incredible rate and are really motivated to finish the construction so that our children can move into a place they can truly call “home.” As of right now we have raised approximately $20,000 from our extremely supportive donors and foundation partners. The total cost of the project is roughly $58,000 so we need your help! Please consider making a donation to our construction project to help us build a loving and caring home that our children so definitely deserve. In the picture below you can see some of the concrete bricks that have been made. So far the contractors have made 1,900 of them!
In addition to the construction of the house, a latrine is also being built on our large property in Chantal. Having a latrine is very essential in Haiti so that human waste does not come in contact with food or water sources – especially during the “rainy season” when flash floods can occur frequently. Our goal is to have running water and a flushable toilet at our home. This latrine will serve our children until that is ready and be an invaluable addition to our local community and ecosystem. For those who have volunteered and been on the land in the past — the latrine is being built in the back left corner.
