I can’t believe it is Friday night already…..tomorrow is our last day with the kids. We have had some very exciting experiences that I’m sure won’t be forgotten quickly. Like taking 18 little excited people into the ocean and trying to keep track of them, like getting off the bus each time we had to go over a certain bump, like the day we had a flat tire and had to stop and get out to have it changed, like wondering if we would be able to leave the mission house or be stuck because of the storm. But, really, the exciting things that will last for me were the team meetings to plan our activities with the kids the next day and then the unfolding of those plans. It was watching the children’s smiles and trust grow daily as we returned. It was seeing their excitement as they learned new things and tried new projects. It was watching the shy ones reach out to one of us to hold our hand or to get a hug. It was the joy they had when we took their picture or let them try on our sunglasses. The simplest things that seem like they would be so insignificant were so big.
Today our big project was finished…..the chicken tractor (or one of the two) and the chickens arrived. Now that was very exciting! For the adults as well as the children. Ron’s hard work with the help of the guys on the team all week certainly paid off. Seven chickens now reside at the RFA home to be cared for and provide eggs for the family…….how awesome it was to see those chickens in the cage with all the kids around peering in!!! What a gift to see!!! Another amazing day…..
Fresh eggs and chickens for the kids to care for!!! How Awsome!!! You all must feel SO great!!!! No doubt that this trip will be with you all forever!!!!
